Whisky DNA Studio / WHISKAVIA

What gives whisky its identity?

A framework for comparing production choices without reducing character to a score.

Identity has multiple layers

Raw material, fermentation, distillation, cask history, maturation environment, blending and bottling decisions may all contribute to a whisky's profile. Their effects are not isolated switches.

Similar does not mean identical

Two distilleries using comparable ingredients can produce distinct spirits. Likewise, one distillery can make very different expressions. A useful comparison explains similarities and differences instead of constructing a fictitious universal ranking.

Documentation and perception

A production attribute belongs to documented evidence; a sensory profile belongs to tasting observation. These types of information may suggest questions for each other but should not be conflated.

DNA as a research model

The WHISKAVIA DNA Studio is an evolving evidence-and-sensory comparison concept. Public pages describe the method; they do not assert that laboratory analysis, predictive matching or automated product scoring are already available.
