Whisky Passport / WHISKAVIA

An entry worth keeping

A thoughtful Whisky Passport begins with a few clear fields.

Start with the occasion

Give the entry a short title and a date. It might be a distillery visit, a reading discovery, an architectural detail, a conversation or a tasting. Add a place only when it matters and you are comfortable recording it. No bottle purchase or alcohol consumption is necessary.

Keep two kinds of notes

In one part, write what you personally noticed: a sound in the warehouse, a comparison that came to mind, a question. In another, record externally checkable details: the exact expression on a label, a museum accession number or the address of a historical source. Where the factual detail has not been checked, mark it as a question.

Use the tools that exist

A paper notebook or private text file works well. WHISKAVIA also offers a browser-local Passport for distillery-related entries marked researched, planned or visited, with optional date and a personal note. Its interface includes JSON export and a control to clear local entries. This is not an account-based archive or a cross-device synchronisation service.

Think about privacy and permanence

The browser-local Passport should not be mistaken for a backed-up personal vault. Export material you wish to preserve and store that copy yourself. Avoid recording another visitor's identifiable information without a good reason; respect site photography policies and separate private notes from material intended for public sharing.

Return to the entry

A few months later, add a dated reflection if you have learned something new. Preserve the original observation rather than silently rewriting it. The most interesting development in a Passport may be the question it helped you ask next.
