07 / THE UNIVERSE
Whisky Museum.
A copper still, an oak cask or an old production ledger can reveal an entire world of craft, commerce and change.

Where this world leads
The Whisky Museum treats objects as evidence. The form of a pot still can explain parts of its design, while a ledger may document how casks moved through a warehouse. Neither establishes a complete history without appropriate context.
Historic labels, advertisements, buildings and photographs tell stories about law, trade and marketing. Their dates, ownership and reproduction rights need individual treatment. An original explanatory diagram can sometimes communicate more accurately than an unlicensed archival image.
The Museum will also explore the labour of maltsters, coopers, engineers, blenders and local communities. Its digital collection can expand across public museums, libraries, verified archives and rights-cleared original exhibits.
